Welcome to the Fermi Sandbox!

Fermi Sandbox is open and free to all that want to Build, Learn, Shop, and Hang out. As you browse around and spend your time here, you’ll find this is no usual sandbox. This a community filled with generous, kind and dedicated people. We strive to keep a clean safe environment here so everyone can build, sculpt, script or even just hang out in peace.

We have a wonderful staff of volunteers here that help to keep the peace and more importantly are here to answer your questions and help out whenever they can. Look for the people with the Fermi Sandbox Manager or owner tags for all your questions and needs.

We highly recommend Joining the Fermi Sandbox group, you can click on any of the white signs that say “Join the Fermi Sandbox” that are at the landing point and guest services.  Please feel welcome to ask questions in group chat. Not only can you usually get the answer you are looking for but you just might make a friend or two while you are at it.

Loss of Items/Builds
We are in no way responsible for lost or broken items whether it be due to SL asset issues, the sim crashing, auto return or any other reason you or I can come up with.  We will and do try to help anytime something goes missing on our property but frankly there’s not usually anything we can do about it.  We all have lost some expensive items in SL, and sadly SL can be build and rez at your own risk.

1.    Be nice to others
This should need no explanation.

2.    No Weapons
You may not fire any weapon here. You may not carry a weapon or brandish one in hand. You may not threaten or provoke using any weapon, including caging and orbitting items. ‘But we are friends and just playing with each other’ or ‘I was just demonstrating’ are not valid excuses for violating the rules.  You may wear a properly sheathed/holstered weapon as an accessory. You may build the prim portions of a weapon here, but may not fit the weapon to hand nor test fire or swing a weapon here.

3.    No Griefing
We work very hard to stop griefer attacks, however they will happen.  If you are attacked the very first thing you should do is report them to Linden Labs.(If you don’t know how feel free to ask)  This helps to get the griefers offline and out of the grid.  Next IM the Fermi Sandbox & University group, this will alert any Sandbox Manager who might be on.  You are at no time to retaliate using weapons, they are forbidden in the sandbox.

4.    Selling in the sandbox
Fermi Sandbox & University generates over half of the money need to pay the monthly tier on the sim.  Because of this we do not allow selling of any kind in the sandbox, if you are looking for a place to sale, there are rental boxes for open shops around the sim.  If you are looking for a space that is currently rented, please contact Arthur Fermi, Kai Eldrich or Bosco Gray and we will put you on a waiting list.

5.    Begging & Pan Handling
We do not allow begging for money or pan handling in the sandbox, ever, this will result in ejection and potentially banning.

6.    Driving
Driving motorized vehicles around the sandbox is not permitted. People need the space to work. Please look for one of the vehicle sims for these purposes.  As with weapons, you may build and script the vehicles here, but you may not test drive them here.  Flying vehicles are ok, but they must be flying higher than the top of the shops in the sandbox.

7.    No Nudity
As a general rule we do not allow nudity in the sandbox, it’s nothing against nudity, it’s just that some will not respect your space.  If you are going to be naked in the sandbox please make sure you are on a platform, in a building, or using a changing tent

8.    No Sexual Activities
If you are going to have sex in the sandbox, use a platform, and remember this is a public sandbox, people could listen in, your stuff could get returned, people might stand and watch.

9.    Builds over 20m x 20m should be built on a platform that is greater than 100m
Additionally Sandbox Managers may ask you to put your build on a platform at their discretion.  Free platforms are available at the landing point.

10.    Builds over 500 prim may be returned if the sandbox is low on prim
If the sandbox is running low on prim, large builds, those over 500 prim maybe returned.  Sandbox managers will give you an opportunity to box it up if you are around it before returning, should you be away from your build, it may be returned automatically.
